Syracuse men's rowing enters its first weekend of spring racing ranked ninth in the IRCA/IRA Week 1 Varsity 8 Coaches Poll, the organization announced Wednesday. The Orange received 156 points in the balloting, after ranking tied for seventh in the preseason rankings.
Syracuse will make its 2026 spring debut Saturday at the Princeton Invite at Carnegie Lake, where the Orange will face a field loaded with ranked competition. No. 2Â California (212 points), No. 5 Brown (182), No. 10Â Penn (144) and No. 11Â Yale (139) are all entered in the event. Host Princeton is ranked fourth in the poll with 195 points but the Orange will not race the Tigers.
Washington holds the top spot in the Week 1 poll with 225 points and all nine first-place votes. Harvard (210) and Princeton (195) round out the top four, while Dartmouth (176) and Stanford (173) check in at sixth and seventh, respectively. Northeastern (161) sits eighth, just ahead of Syracuse.
Saturday's racing at Princeton will serve as an early measuring stick for a Syracuse program looking to build on its ranking against some of the nation's elite programs.
