SYRACUSE WOMEN'S ROWING MOVES UP TO NO. 8 IN CRCA COACHES POLL
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse women's rowing program climbed one spot to No. 8 in this week's Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division I Coaches Poll, released Tuesday.
The Orange checked in at No. 8 with support in the voting, moving up from their previous position as the season continues to build momentum following a strong showing against Yale and Cornell at the Cayuga Cup this past weekend. Stanford University held firm at the top of the poll with 22 first-place votes, followed by Texas at No. 2 and Yale at No. 3.
Syracuse has another opportunity this weekend when the Orange travel to Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, April 11 for the Ivy League Invitational at Lake Carnegie. The field will feature four other ranked programs, highlighted by No. 6 Princeton, which serves as the host. No. 9 Brown and No. 17 Harvard-Radcliffe round out the ranked competition, with Cornell also in the field.
The Ivy League Invitational represents one of the more challenging mid-season tests on the schedule for the Orange, who will face programs that perennially contend at the national level. Princeton has been among the nation's elite this spring, while Brown and Harvard-Radcliffe have also established themselves firmly inside the top 25.
Racing at Lake Carnegie is scheduled to begin Saturday morning.
