
Men’s Lacrosse Slips in Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After suffering its first setback of 2026, Syracuse University men's lacrosse slipped in both the USILA Division I Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll, both of which were released on Monday.
The Orange (3-1) dropped to seventh in the USILA Coaches Poll one week after securing the top spot for the first time in over five years. Syracuse garnered 435 points in the Coaches Poll this week. On the media side, Syracuse secured 350 points and one first-place selection for sixth place this week, again dropping from first place.
Notre Dame took over the number one spot in the USILA Coaches Poll this week with 578 points and nine first-place votes. North Carolina was second with 556 points and 10 top selections. Cornell was third with 530 points and nine first-place nods with Richmond (500) and Duke (477) rounding out the top five. Harvard was sixth with two first-place votes while Army West Point was eighth with 388 points and the remaining first-place selection.
North Carolina was atop the Media Poll this week with 413 points and nine first-place votes. Notre Dame was second with 385 points and a trio of top selections. Richmond was third with 378 points and three first-place votes with Harvard in fourth with 359 points and four top picks. Cornell was fifth with 358 points and the last two first-place votes.
Across the season, Syracuse will face 13 teams mentioned in this week's USILA Coaches Poll: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Harvard, No. 10 Princeton, No. 11 Georgetown, No. 11 Maryland, No. 13 Virginia, No. 16 Johns Hopkins, No. 17 Denver, No. 18 Saint Joseph's No. 19 Penn, with Boston University receiving votes. The Orange are 2-1 against top 20 teams this year.
Fourteen of the 15 opponents this season were mentioned in this week's Media Poll: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 4 Harvard, No. 7 Princeton, No. 8 Duke, No. 9 Maryland, No. 12 Georgetown, No. 13 Johns Hopkins, No. 14 Virginia, No. 17 Denver, No. 18 Saint Joseph's, No. 19 Penn, as Boston University and Colgate picked up votes.
It's a double dip week for the Orange as they make their way to Central New Jersey for a Friday showdown at No. 10/No. 7 Princeton with a 4 p.m. start. On Sunday, Syracuse travels to No. 19/No. 19 Penn for a noon game. Both games will stream on ESPN+. Syracuse Sports Network will be on hand for both games on radio locally at TK99/105 with an audio option on Cuse.tv.
