
Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament Starts Wednesday

The Syracuse women's basketball team (12-17, 6-12 ACC) starts the road to an ACC Championship on Wednesday, March 5 when the Orange take on Boston College (15-16, 6-12 ACC) at 1 p.m. on ACC Network. The 13-Seed Orange will face the 12-Seed Eagles for the third time this season, most recently concluding the regular season against BC this past Sunday.

SU enters the tournament on a two-game win streak, including an 83-65 victory over Pittsburgh last Thursday and a Senior Day win to close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon beating Boston College 82-57. Senior Georgia Woolley led in scoring in both contests, recording a season-high 25 points against Pitt and 19 points against BC. Sophomore Sophie Burrows provided aid with a 21-point outing against the Panthers and 16 points in the season finale.

Before the loss to the Orange on Sunday, Boston College had a two-win game of its own, taking down both SMU and Virginia Tech at home. T'yana Todd and Dontavia Waggoner led BC in scoring in the regular season, averaging 14.3 points and 13.0 points per game respectively. Teya Sidberry also averaged double figures for the season, posting 11.8 points per game.

Syracuse and Boston College met earlier in the regular season in Chestnut Hill, Mass., where the Orange fell to the Eagles on the road 92-51. Burrows led the Orange in points and rebounds in the contest, scoring 15 points and grabbing eight boards. 'Cuse and BC are 1-1 for the season, while SU owns the all-time series 40-27.
The Orange are 9-11 all-time in the ACC Tournament and have played the Eagles once before, in 2021. Syracuse is looking for its first ACC Tournament win since beating Florida State in abuzzer-beater, 68-67, in the 2021 quarterfinals.Â

This year's edition is the first in the newly expanded 18-team conference, as the bracket features the top 15 performing teams. The Orange lost to Florida State, 78-65, in last year's Quarterfinals.
