
Orange Climb Back into Top 10

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After picking up the first top 10 win of the season, Syracuse University men's lacrosse moved back into the top 10 of both major polls this week.
Ranked 11th last week, the Orange (5-2) topped then seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins 13-10 at the JMA Wireless Dome on Sunday afternoon in front of 8,607 fans.
Syracuse moved up one spot in the USILA Division I Coaches Poll to 10th, garnering 357 points and just seven points behind No. 9 Ohio State. Maryland again occupied the top spot with 620 points and all 31 first-place votes. Princeton moved to second this week with 574 points while Army West Point jumped to third with 550 points. North Carolina finished fourth with 508 points while Penn State vaulted to fifth with 491 points.
The Orange moved up two spots in the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll, up to ninth this week, with 308 points, trailing Duke in eighth with 316 points. Maryland was first with 520 points and all 26 top selections, followed by Princeton (489), Army West Point (441), Penn State (439) and North Carolina (423).
Nine opponents this season were ranked in the top 20 of the USILA Coaches Poll: No. 1 Maryland, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 6 Duke, No. 7 Cornell, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 11 Johns Hopkins, No. 13 Harvard, No. 15 Colgate, No. 18 Virginia.
Syracuse has a bye weekend before returning to the JMA Wireless Dome for a pair of games next week. Leading off, the Orange host Manhattan on Tuesday, March 18 for a 7 p.m. showdown on ACC Network Extra before taking on No. 15 Colgate on ACC Network Extra Saturday, March 22 with a noon start.
