
Syracuse to Compete at ITA New England Regionals

The Syracuse University women's tennis team will travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to compete in the ITA New England Regional Championship. The event will be hosted by Harvard with match play beginning on Thursday Oct. 9.
Last season, junior Serafima Shastova claimed the 2024 ITA New England Regional singles championship title.

The Setup
The tournament will be held at Harvard's Beren Tennis Center. The matches will begin on Thursday, starting with the doubles contest.
Monika Wojcik and Serafima Shastova will partner together for the first round against Marist's Vihana Shresta and Yasmin Asnis.

On Friday, the main draw singles matches will begin, starting with Monika Wojcik as she faces Chang Ao of Massachusetts Amherst. Constance Levivier will take on Grace Darcy from Rhode Island.

About the Orange
Syracuse welcomes back a familiar squad, with six of last year's players returning to the court. Sophomore Monika Wojcik lead the team last year with 12 singles victories and 11 doubles wins. She collected a 5-1 ACC record in singles in her freshman year.

Serafima Shastova returns for her second season at Syracuse. In her sophomore season, she had 12 wins in the singles column. Partnered with Wojcick, the duo had eight wins together.

Junior Nelly Knezkova followed up with 10 singles wins on the season and seven doubles. She played at top spot in seven singles matches last season and on the first court for doubles in 15 matchups.

Haram Kim is entering her sophomore year with the Orange. She collected two wins in her first season at the six spot, defeating her opponents from Fordham in a 7-5, 6-3 match and Drexel 6-4, 6-2.

Constance Levivier is going into her senior season and her third year with the Orange. Levivier held four singles wins, including two at the fourth singles spot.

Senior Anastasia Sysoeva is back after appearing in 19 matches last season in both singles and doubles play. In doubles action, she collected nine wins, six of which were at the second court.

Last Time Out
The Orange began their fall season at the Villanova/UD Invitational on Sept. 19 – 21.
They collected in a total of nine single and five doubles wins over the course of the event.
On the first day, Syracuse players Shastova, Knezkova, Sysoeva and Wojcik went undefeated against Penn and doubles pair Wojcik/Knezkova beat Penn doubles duo May Urata/Varsha Vedula 8-7 (9).
Following a successful first day, Sysoeva and Wojcik continued the success for the orange in singles play, securing a win against both Temple and Delaware players. Syracuse also had a strong showing in doubles play, winning Two out of Three of their matches against Delaware and Temple.
The Orange finished the weekend going undefeated on the final day of the invite in both singles and doubles play.
