
Orange Fall to Boston College at Home

The Syracuse University volleyball team (13-7, 5-5 ACC) dropped a straight-set match to Boston College on Friday evening at the Women's Building, falling 25-20, 25-23, 25-16. The loss marks the Orange's fifth conference defeat as they reach the midpoint of ACC play.
Marie Laurio provided a bright spot in her start at right side hitter, leading Syracuse with nine kills on a .263 hitting percentage. Skylar George and Gabby McLaughlin each added nine kills, while Tehya Maeva distributed 28 assists. George also contributed 13 digs and two service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Syracuse started strong in the opening set, jumping out to a 3-0 lead behind early kills from George and Laurio. The Orange maintained leads throughout the middle portion of the set and held an 18-17 advantage late. However, Boston College closed on an 8-2 run to take the first set 25-20.
The second set was back-and-forth to start, with the teams tied at 10 points apiece during the early going. Yet, the Eagles went on a 5-0 run and never relinquished the lead, taking the set, 25-23. The Orange showed fight throughout, with Laurio and Harris-Waddy making key offensive plays down the stretch.
Boston College took control early in the third set, building leads of 6-1 and 15-8. Despite a late surge from Syracuse that included two service aces from George, the Eagles closed out the match 25-16 to complete the sweep.

Syracuse will look to bounce back as ACC play continues. The Orange will hit the road next week when they take on Florida State and #15 Miami.
