Syracuse Falls to Louisville in ACC Opener

The Syracuse volleyball team opened ACC play at home Friday night, falling to Louisville, 3-0, (25-9, 25-13, 25-18) at the Women's Building.
Marie Laurio paced the Orange offense with a team-high six kills on a .357 hitting clip, adding nine digs. Kiernan Stamey chipped in five kills and five digs, and Charis Burge ran the offense with 14 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Louisville took control early in set one, using a long run of serves to pull away from an early 6-6 tie and close it out, 25-9.
Set two tight through the midpoint, with the two teams knotted up several times in the single digits. But a service run from Louisville gave them the lead as Louisville took set two, 25-13.
The Orange applied pressure in set three, using a late push from Stamey and Yuka Urano to cut a seven-point deficit down to two at 19-17. Louisville answered immediately, on a run to take the set 25-18 and take the match.
