Syracuse Moves On at ITA Regionals

The Orange women's tennis team kept its stride through the third day of the ITA New England Regionals.
Serafima Shastova and Anastasia Sysoeva remain as the last eight standing after singles wins in the two previous rounds played today. Two Syracuse doubles teams are moving on to the Round of 16 after wins on their courts today.
Singles Showdown- Morning Session
Shastova defeated Chloe Lomans of Connecticut in a 6-2, 6-4 match to move on to the afternoon session. Sysoeva' 6-0, 6-2 victory over Colgate's Amelia Galin allowed her to advance to the next round.
Constance Levivier played tough, but fell short to Boston's Gabriella Mikaul 7-5, 6-2.
Keeping it Going-Â Afternoon Session
Shastova claimed her second win of the day, taking down Harvard's Claire Shao 6-4, 7-5. Sysoeva played strong on her court, defeating Shyla Aggarwal of Yale 6-1, 6-2.
Still Going
Monicka Wojcik and Haram Kim continue their stride in the consolation bracket. Wojcik defeated Stonehill's Julie Holte in a 6-1, 6-3 match. Kim was able to move on after her opponent retired.
Double Duos
Pair Nelly Kneozkova and Sysoeva move on to the Round of 16 after taking down Dartmouth duo Alexandra Orlins and Josephine Lombardi 8-6. Shastova and Wojcik challenged Anagha Shankar and Vera Sekerina, defeating the Quinnipiac partners 8-1.Â
