6/5/2024 11:29:00 PM | Track and Field
Sam Lawler and Benne Anderson wrapped up their 2024 track seasons with honorable mention All-America performances on Wednesday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Competing in the 10,000-meter run final, Lawler placed 17th overall, one spot out of a Second Team All-America finish, crossing the line in 28:55.14. The race was won by New Mexico's Habtom Samuel in 28:07.82. The race was a faster paced 10k for a championship competition, 11 of the 16 runners in front of Lawler recorded personal and/or season-best times.
Anderson raced in the 1,500-meter semifinals, placing 10th in his heat. The true freshman turned in a time of 3:42.06, which was 22nd overall. The finish concludes a stellar rookie campaign for Anderson, who became the first Orange true freshman to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in nearly a decade.
Savannah Roark will conclude the NCAA Championships for the Orange on Thursday night in the women's 10,000-meter run final.
