LAST TIME OUT
The Orange hosted Notre Dame and Louisville in crucial conference matches this past weekend. On Friday, after losing the first set against the Irish, Syracuse rallied to win the next three to take down Notre Dame 3-1. Syracuse was back against Louisville on Sunday at the Women's Building and after a tightly-contested four sets, the Orange dominated the deciding fifth frame to take down the Cardinals.
'Cuse sophomore Polina Shemanova was spectacular all weekend, recording 58 kills in the two matches, including a school record 36 kills against Louisville. The captain earned her second consecutive ACC Player of the Week honors following her performance. She currently leads the ACC in kills (359), kills per set (5.06), points (406.5), points per set (5.73) and attacks per set (11.63). Â
Middle blocker Abby Casiano had a stellar weekend of her own for the Orange defensively, tallying eight blocks in the weekend and adding 10 kills.
ALL-TIME VS. EAGLES
The Orange have an overall series record of 34-9 having not lost a match to the Eagles since 2016. The conference rivals will meet twice this year, with the second matchup being played at home on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Women's Building.
Â
Last year's lone match against BC, a 3-1 victory, was a crucial win for the Orange and sparked a run of four wins in their next five matches to propel them into the NCAA Tournament. Ella Saada led Syracuse with 20 kills and 12 digs.
Â
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College enters Wednesday's matchup with a 17-8 record including an 8-4 record in the ACC. The Eagles also hosted Louisville and Notre Dame last weekend, with both matches going to five sets, a victory against the Cardinals and a loss to the Irish.
The Eagles have four players with over 200 kills this season, led by sophomore Jewel Strawberry who is coming off of a 30 kill weekend against Louisville and Notre Dame. Strawberry is also the team-leader in service aces (25), and the Eagles lead the ACC with 147.
