Volleyball Honored with AVCA Team Academic Award

The Syracuse Volleyball team earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 year. It marks the 15th time in program history the Orange have been honored with the award and the seventh time in the last eight years.
ÂThe classroom has been a strength during Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam's tenure, with Syracuse volleyball earning AVCA Team Academic Honors in three of his four seasons at the helm. Syracuse had three players named to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) All-Academic Team, producing multiple honorees in each of the past five seasons. The Orange held a 3.158 fall GPA and a 3.690 spring GPA during the 2025-26 season.
ÂThe AVCA Team Academic Award is given to collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintained a year-long grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. This year, 1,432 programs earned the award.
Â"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."Â
