TODAY'S GAME
-Syracuse will look for to bounce back from last week's loss and win the nal game of the season-opening four game home stretch Sunday vs. Virginia.
- The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with Michael Tricarico and Jared Barton calling the action. Fans can also listen to Brian Higgins and Kyle Fetterly call the action on TK99/105 as part of the Syracuse Radio Network. WAER will also broadcast the game on the radio as well.
THE VIRGINIA SERIES
- Dating back to Apr. 14, 1938, Syracuse and Virginia have squared off 32 mes, with the series split evenly at 16 games apiece.
-Â Not only do the two sides have 16 wins each, they have both scored 416 goals against each other.
- 19 of the 32 matchups have been decided by two or less goals. Syracuse is 7-6 in 13 games that have been decided by one goal, while the two sides are tied, 3-3, in six games decided by two goals.
- Ten of the 32 games have been decided by five or more goals. Each side has won five of those games.
- Syracuse has won two in a row, and three of its last four against Virginia.
- In a 14-13 victory last season, the Orange held off five fourth-quarter goals from the Cavaliers to preserve the win. Nick Mariano was one of three players with a hat trick, while Sergio Salcido added four points on two goals and two assists.
THE START OF CONFERENCE PLAY
-Â This weekend's match-up with Virginia marks the start of ACC-play for Syracuse.
-Â Last season, the Orange finished the regular season with a 2-2 record in conference play, beating Virginia and North Carolina while losing to Duke and Notre Dame.
- Since joining the ACC in 2014, Syracuse is 6-7 in regular season conference play.
RISING IN THE RANKS
-Â With six ground balls against Albany, Ben Williams passed Casey Powell and Jarett Park to move into second place in Syracuse program history.
-Â Williams' 280 career ground balls trail only Joel White's 283 in the Orange record book.
- Sunday's game will be the just the 37th in Williams' career at SU, making the mark even more impressive.
