THE ST. JOHN'S SERIES
-Â Syracuse is an undefeated 10-0 in the 10-game series dating back to 1990 with in-state foe St. John's.
-Â The Orange and Red Storm have played annually since 2010, including two games in 2012 as the two sides faced off in the regular season and then again in the Big East Championship.
-Â In last year's match-up with St. John's, the Orange jumped out to a 6-0 lead, holding St. John's scoreless until the 1:54 mark of the first quarter. Syracuse then proceeded to push its advantage to 11, leading 13-2 with 8:47 left in the third quarter. The game ended 15-4 in favor of the Orange. u Jordan Evans (2 g, 2 a) and Nick Mariano (3 g, 1 a) had four goals apiece, while Sergio Salcido (1 g, 1 a) had two of his own. Brad McKinney and Pat Carlin recorded their first career goals in the contest.
AGAINST THE "NEW" BIG EASTÂ
- A former member of the BIG EASTÂ Conference, Syracuse holds a 42-7 record all-time against the six current Big East schools.
-Â The Orange holds undefeated records against Denver, Providence, and St. John's, as well as winning records against Villanova and Georgetown. Syracuse has never played against Marquette.
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
-Â Syracuse finished 8-3 in 2016 versus nonconference opponents.
-Â Since joining the ACC, the Orange is 27-6 versus non-conference opponents, including a 25-3 mark in regular-season, non-league contests.
-Â This season, the Orange is 2-1 against non-conference opponents, having defeated Siena and Albany while losing to Army West Point.
COMEBACK KIDS
-Â The Orange has erased deficits of at least four goals on three separate occasions this year, including twice in games ending in victory.
-Â The early-season comeback vs. Albany was the first time since 2013 that the Orange trailed by five or more goals and came back to win. Trailing 6-1 early in the second quarter, Syracuse held Albany scoreless for 30:38, going on a six-goal run to come back and eventually win the game 10-9.
-Â Against Army West Point, the Orange fell behind 8-4 late in the first half. The team eventually tied the game at 12, but would fall short to the Black Knights with just one second on the clock.
-Â In last week's ACC-opener, Virginia held a 10-5 lead over Syracuse with 11:06 to go in the third. Scoring nine of the game's final 12 goals, the Orange came back to win another dramatic finish, as Sergio Salcido netted the game winner with just 15 seconds to play. u All three games that have featured Syracuse comebacks have also been decided in the final minute.
WILLIAMS SETS RECORD
- With seven ground balls against Virginia, Ben Williams passed Joel White to move into first place in Syracuse program history.
-Â Williams' 287 career ground balls eclipsed Joel White's 283 in the Orange record book.
-Â Williams has played in just 37 games in his' career at SU, making the mark even more impressive.
