SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse (8-4-1, 2-4-1 ACC) travels to Chapel Hill for the first time in program history when it faces No. 21 North Carolina (4-2-5, 1-1-5 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 18 at Fetzer Field. The Orange and Tar Heels kick off at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Regional Sports Network and ESPN3. Live stats are also available at GoHeels.com.

LAST TIME OUT
Alex Bono earned his 16th career shutout to help the Orange to a 0-0 draw against Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the SU Soccer Stadium. Syracuse owned a 20-1 advantage in shots and controlled the game throughout its entirety. The Orange had numerous chances to break the Pittsburgh defense, but was unable to put the ball in the back of the net.

Stefanos Stamoulacatos, who continually tested the Pitt backline with seven total shots, nearly gave the Orange the lead in the 89th and 109th minutes, but both attempts hit the post.

BONO CLIMING CAREER LISTS
Only a sophomore, Bono is already making his way up Syracuse's record lists for career wins and shutouts. Bono's 16 career shutouts rank fourth on the team's all-time list. Bono's career record stands at 21-10-2. His 21 victories are sixth all-time at SU.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina has a 4-2-5 record in 2013, including a 1-1-5 mark in the ACC.

Tyler Engel leads the UNC offense with nine points on four goals and one assist. Josh Rice, Omar Holness, Jordan McCrary and Cooper Vandermaas-Peeler each have two assists this season. North Carolina goalkeeper Brendan Moore has collected 40 saves and his 0.65 goals-against average is third-best among ACC goalies.

Carlos Somoano is in his third season at the helm in Chapel Hill. Somoano led the Tar Heels to the 2011 NCAA title in his first season, becoming just the second rookie head coach in NCAA history to win a national championship.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's match represents the first-ever meeting between Syracuse and North Carolina. UNC is one of five teams the Orange has or will play for the first time in 2013. The others are Manhattan, Virginia, Maryland and Clemson. SU defeated Manhattan, 1-0, on Sept. 9 and lost to Virginia, 2-0, on Sept. 28.
