SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After clinching its first winning season since 2008, the SU men's soccer team (9-3-0, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) hosts Louisville (6-4-0, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the SU Soccer Stadium. Match time is set for 7 p.m.

ORANGE ON A ROLL
With its 2-1 overtime victory against Rutgers Wednesday, SU secured its ninth win of the season, the most for the program since 1999. The Orange has also won seven out of its last nine matches this season.

OFFENSIVE DOMINANCE
Syracuse is first in the BIG EAST in points (73) and goals (26) and second in goals per game (2.17). The team is second in assists (21) and assists per game (1.75). In the most recent NCAA statistics update, the Orange is seventh nationally in goals scored.

SU's 26 goals through 12 games are six more than it scored in 16 matches last season.

DEFENSE DOING THE JOB TOO
Syracuse has shut out eight of its first 12 opponents and has allowed just seven goals this season. SU's eight shutouts are its most since 2008 when it also recorded eight clean sheets.

The Orange leads the BIG EAST in shutouts and ranks second nationally in shutout percentage (.730). Goalie Alex Bono is tied for second in the league with six solo shutouts.

SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
The Cardinals are 6-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play, and are coming off a 3-0 victory against DePaul Wednesday.

Nine different Cardinals have at least one goal this season. Greg Cochrane leads the way with four. Cochrane is also the team leader in points (9). Will Vitalis has a squad-best four assists, and he's tied with Dylan Mares (three goals, two assists) for second on the team in scoring (eight points).

Mike Mauro (seven saves, 0.75 GAA) and Joachim Ball (eight saves, 1.30 GAA) have split time in goal this season. Maura has two shutouts this season, while Ball has one. Ball has started three out of the last four matches for the Cardinals.

Ken Lolla is in his seventh year as head coach at Louisville. Prior to arriving in Louisville, Lolla served as the head coach at Akron. He owns an overall record of 289-124-50.

THE LOUISVILLE SERIES
Louisville leads the overall series, 4-2-1. All seven previous pairings have come since Louisville joined the BIG EAST in 2005.

The visiting Orange won the first meeting between the two schools, 2-1, in double overtime on Oct. 22, 2005. The Orange and Cardinals played to a 0-0 draw in 2011.

RECAPPING THE RUTGERS GAME
Senior Lars Muller scored in the 93rd minute, leading the Orange to a 2-1 overtime victory against Rutgers on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Jordan Vale scored the first goal for SU, which guaranteed itself a winning season.

Syracuse begins a two-game road swing at USF on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Orange will then travel to Villanova on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
