Orange Hosts Cincinnati on Senior Night

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange men's soccer team (2-10-1, 0-5-1) returns home to face Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 22. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. Admission to the game is free.
In its last outing, the Orange lost 2-1 at Rutgers on Oct. 20. Cincinnati also suffered a loss in their last game, losing 2-1 to DePaul on Oct. 19. The Bearcats enter Saturday's game with an overall record of 5-9-1 and 1-5-0 in-conference.
Saturday is also Senior Night at the SU Soccer Stadium as the team will recognize the contributions of Federico Agreda, Sami Bin, Phil Boerger, David Neumann, #L.J. Papaleo#, Nick Roydhouse, and Dan Summers prior to the start of the match.
PEREA TALLIES FIRST GOAL
Freshman Nick Perea recorded his first collegiate goal, scoring SU's lone tally at Rutgers. After a failed clear attempt by the Scarlet Knights, Perea collected the ball and deposited it in the upper right corner of the goal.
Perea has started 11-of-13 matches for the Orange this season. The Hollywood, Fla. native is tied for sixth on the team in scoring with three points (one goal, one assist) on the year. Perea came to the Orange after recording 10 goals and 20 assists in his senior season for the Nova Southeastern University School in Florida.
FRESHMAN LEADING THE WAY
This year's Orange freshman class has made its presence felt offensively. Through 13 games, Chris Makowski, Jordan Murrell, Perea and Skylar Thomas have combined for 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Their 10 combined points are the most scored by a SU freshman class since 2006. Hansen Woodruff, Pete Hill and Luis Martinez recorded 22 points in their first year on campus.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati is currently 5-9-1 overall and 1-5-0 in conference action. The Bearcats lost their last game to DePaul, 2-1. Sophomore Michael Millay recorded the lone goal for Cincinnati.
Freshman Cole DeNormandie leads Cincinnati with 12 points on the year. With his six goals this season, DeNormandie is tied for fifth in the BIG EAST. Redshirt junior Joey Barnard has been in goal for the Bearcats in 13 games this year. Barnard has made 46 saves and holds a 1.37 goals-against average.
Hylton Dayes has been the head coach of Cincinnati for 11 seasons. In his 21st year overall as a head coach, Dayes holds an overall record of 188-172-49.
THE SERIES AGAINST CINCINNATI
Saturday's meeting is the seventh between Syracuse and Cincinnati. The home team has won every game in the series, and the series is tied at 3-3-0 overall.
The two schools have met every season since Cincinnati joined the BIG EAST in 2005. The first matchup between the two teams went Syracuse's way, as the Orange recorded a 2-1 victory on October 15, 2005.
Last season, the two squads squared off in Cincinnati. The Bearcats had their way in that one, winning 4-0.
UP NEXT
The Orange will play its final home game of the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 26, when the team takes on Villanova. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.
