BALTIMORE, Md. – The SU men's soccer team (2-0) scored three unanswered goals to rally from a 2-0 second-half deficit and post a 3-2 overtime win against Loyola (0-2-1) at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field on Friday, Sept. 1. Sophomore Kyle Hall (Toronto, Ontario) scored two of SU's three tallies, including the game-winner one minute and nine seconds into the overtime period.
"This was a big character win for us," SU head coach Dean Foti said. "To be down two goals and come back, especially with the weather the way it was, says a lot about this team."
Friday’s match was played in heavy rains due to tropical storm Ernesto which was moving through the surrounding area.
Hall and freshmen Pete Hill (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored two minutes and 17 seconds apart to square the match at 2-2. Hall then found the back of the net at 91:09 to lift the Orange to victory. Hill’s goal was the first of his career.

Syracuse fell behind, 1-0, when Loyola’s Jamie Darville converted the rebound on a shot taken by Josh Taylor. The Greyhounds added to their margin in the second half when Tennant McVea scored on a header off a free kick by Rade Kokovic at 51:40.
Hall got the Orange on the scoreboard at 58:14 when he corralled a loose ball in front of the net and beat Loyola keeper Justin Chelland. Hill notched the equalizer at 60:31 with a shot to the low left corner of the net.
Hall’s two scores was a career high. He is SU’s leading scorer with three goals in the Orange’s first two matches.
This marks the second straight season SU has started the year 2-0. It was also the first time since 2001 the Orange netted at least three goals in consecutive contests. SU has won its last 20 matches in which it has scored at least three goals.
The Orange returns home on Monday, Sept. 4 for a 1:00 p.m. match against Albany at the SU Soccer Stadium.
