Tyler Cady joined the athletic communications staff in July, 2014. In September, 2024 he was elevated to Associate Athletics Director and is the media relations contact for athletics administration, and the football and cross country/track and field programs while also assisting in the implementation and execution of the department’s digital and social media strategy and content creation.
In addition to his current role, Cady has previously overseen men’s lacrosse (2016-22), field hockey (2015-16), ice hockey (2014-15) and tennis (2014-15) in earlier roles at SU.
The Orange’s football social media have nearly doubled in annual interactions from 2020-2022 in his first three years in the role, going from nearly 767,000 in 2020 to over 1.5 million in the 2022 calendar year. The program’s social accounts have also grown by over 54,000 new followers in that time. He also saw the men’s lacrosse accounts blossom into the most-followed program in college lacrosse across platforms in his time with that program.
Prior to his appointment at Syracuse, Cady worked as a graduate assistant at Canisius College, while earning his master’s degree. At Canisius, Cady was responsible for the communications efforts for women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, cross country, track and field, swimming and diving, synchronized swimming and rowing, while assisting with men’s and women’s basketball, ice hockey and men’s lacrosse.
Before graduating from Canisius in 2014, Cady earned his bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo in 2012.
Cady was honored with College Sports Communicators’ Rising Star Award in 2023, presented to one individual NCAA Division I with 10 years of service or less at their institution, whose service and dedication to the profession make that individual a “rising star” in sports information.
