Coleman shifts back over to the defensive side of the ball for the 2023 season, where he starred for the Orange, after spending the past two years as an offensive graduate assistant. Coleman is now a Defensive Analyst.
In Coleman’s two years working with the offensive side of the ball, ‘Cuse increased its win total in each season, earning an invitation to the 2022 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl. In 2021, the SU posted one of the most prolific rushing attacks in program history, capped with running back Sean Tucker earning All-America accolades and shattering the single-season rushing record. In 2022, it was the passing game that made major strides. SU’s passing efficiency rating upgraded to fourth in the ACC last year. The Orange also improved to eighth in the ACC in total offense (from 10th), seventh in passing offense (from 14th), second in red zone offense (from 13th) and seventh in scoring offense (from 10th)
A team captain in 2019 and recipient of the Bill Horr Award as the team’s most valuable player, Coleman started 43 games in his collegiate career, logging 137 tackles, 26.5 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks. After attending the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, he signed with the Colts.
For the past two seasons, he primarily assisted with members of the Orange’s offensive line. On the defensive side of the ball, he’ll bring knowledge that led him to be a large part of the team’s 10-win season in 2018, where he was second in the ACC and eighth nationally in sacks (0.83 per game).
He graduated from Syracuse with a degree in human development and family science.
