At SU: Three letters … Moved to tight end from quarterback during 2009 Spring practice … Has played in four of nine games ... Ranks fifth on Syracuse’s career passing yards per game record list (138.3 yards per game) … One of four true freshmen to play in 2006 … Member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every semester … 2007 and 2008 BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.
Senior Year (2009): Played in every game this season... Was one of Football Bowl Subdivision student-athletes to be named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame 2009 William V. Campbell Trophy.
Junior Year (2008): Played in four games … At Northwestern, connected on 14-of-28 passes for 103 yards, including completions to eight different receivers, in the start … Against Penn State, entered the game for a fourth quarter series recording a nine-yard gain … At Rutgers, stepped in for an injured Cam Dantley in the first drive of the fourth quarter and completed 2-of-7 passes for 16 yards in three series … Against Connecticut, he completed 2-of-7 passes for 13 yards.
Sophomore Year (2007): Posted several season statistics that are among the best in SU history, including passing yards (2,192 yards, ranks fifth), completions (154, sixth), passing yards per game (199.3, fifth), touchdown passes (13, ninth), and pass attempts (292, third) … Against Washington, which was his first career start, was 20-for-32 for 199 yards and a touchdown … Completed his first five passes for 34 yards and hit five different receivers to start 9-for-11 for 65 yards against the Huskies … At Iowa, completed 7-of-11 passes for 79 yards … Against Illinois, compiled 208 yards passing, completing 17-of-26 attempts … At Louisville, his breakout performance of 423 yards and four touchdowns earned him BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week … The four touchdown passes tied a school record and his 423 yards was second-best in school history behind Marvin Graves’ 425 yards against Rutgers in 1992 … His 79-yard touchdown pass to Taj Smith on the first play from the line of scrimmage was the longest completion for the Orange since 2002 when R.J. Nesheiwat, completed all three of his passes for 20 yards, and had five rushes for 31 yards.
