Providing an autographed game ball(s) to high schools, preparato- ry schools or junior colleges for fund-raising purposes would not be permissible.
Additional regulations exist when men’s basketball is asked to participate in promotional activities; an institution or a staff member shall not provide a donation to a nonprofit foundation that expends funds for the benefit of a nonscholastic team or teams, prospective student-athletes or individuals associated with prospective student-athletes, regardless of whether the foundation provides funding to or services for all ages.
Prior to taking part in any kind of promotional activity or making any donation, the requesting agency must complete the Donation of Items form or the Student-Athlete/Coach Promotional Activ- ity form. The event or donation must be approved by the OAC, as well as the appropriate athletic department designee, prior the event or appearance. In addition, the OAC will send an exit interview to the requesting agency after the event has taken place. If student-athletes make an appearance at an event, they must sign the Student-Athlete Appearance follow-up form.
