SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Volleyball program (6-2, 0-0 ACC) wrapped up its home-and-home series with Colgate on Saturday evening, hosting the Raiders at the Syracuse University Women's Building. While the Orange showed resilience and fought back to win the third set, the Raiders would win the match in four by a score of 3-1.
For the sixth time this season, Gabby McLaughlin led the team in kills. She compiled 16 kills and added 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Soana Lea'ea led the way at the net with five blocks and added eight kills. Tehya Maeva finished with 40 assists, helping lead the offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Raiders came out of the gate firing, starting on a 6-0 run. The Raiders led the rest of the way until the Orange stormed back to tie things up at 20. Another run from the Raiders led to them taking the first set, 25-22.
The second set was much of the same, with the Orange falling behind early and needing to climb out of a hole. Syracuse traded blows to stay within striking distance, but the Raiders won the set, 25-21.
The Orange dominated the third set, opening up on a 7-0 run with Reese Teves controlling serve during the spurt. Syracuse maintained the cushion it built early on to win the third set, 25-17.
The fourth set was the closest of the entire match, with the two teams going on a few runs until they found themselves knotted up at 25. The Orange put together a couple of strong rallies, but the Raiders won them both to seal the match.
