If a prospective student-athlete declines athletics aid in favor of other institutional aid, the NLI must be declared null and void.
Before the signing of a prospective student-athlete to an NLI or an institution’s written offer of admission and/or financial aid or before the institution receives the financial desposit from the prospect, member institutions may not comment on a prospect other than to confirm his or her recruitment.
NLI’s may not be signed prior to the signing date for the applicable sport, and must include a parent or legal guardian signature if the prospective student-athlete is under the age of 21, regardless of his or her marital status.
If an NLI is declared null and void, a prospective student-athlete is not permitted to sign another NLI until the next signing year.Â
