Syracuse (3-5-2, 0-3-0) and Pittsburgh (6-3-1, 0-2-0) will each be seeking their first ACC triumph of the fall when they square off on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.
The Syracuse-Pittsburgh Series
The Orange lead the all-time series, 12-10-4. Syracuse's edge in matches played at home against the Panthers is 6-4-2. The rivalry dates back to the 1996 season, which was Syracuse's first as an NCAA soccer program. The Orange claimed a 6-0 triumph that year. Pittsburgh won the most recent encounter in 2024, 3-0.
Syracuse Status
The Syracuse defense came up with a solid effort against Virginia Tech in its last outing. The Orange unit accumulated 10 blocked shots, including four from sophomore Bree Bridges and two each from junior Jasmine Nixon and sophomore Liv Bozzo. The Hokies unleashed 23 shots, but only six were on target. Junior goalkeeper Maya Naimoli, who leads the ACC in saves, made five stops against Virginia Tech.
Naimoli, who has started nine of Syracuse's 10 matches, has a 0.78 goals-against average and a save percentage of .825.
Fifth-year performer Vickie Jones leads the Orange with three goals this fall. Sophomore Abby Incorvaia has two goals and two assists.
Pittsburgh Status
The Panthers feature sophomore forward Adi Bianchin. She owns a squad-best five goals and has two assists. Sophomore midfielder Katie Ellermeyer has contributed a goal and four assists to the Panther attack.
Freshman Elli Johnson owns a 1.14 goals-against average and a .656 save percentage. She has been with the first unit in all 10 Pittsburgh matches.
Game Promotions
Thursday is Student Organization Night at the SU Soccer Stadium. There will be a halftime skills competition between two members of Otto's Army and two members from Pace Run Club.
