
Men’s Lacrosse Holds in Top Five This Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After picking up its eighth top-20 win of the season, Syracuse University men's lacrosse held in the top five of the Coaches poll, while sliding up one spot in the Media Poll.
Over the weekend, Syracuse picked off No. 13/No. 9 Virginia 14-9 at the Dome, the sixth win at home this season while notching the eighth win over a ranked team this season.
Syracuse (10-3, 2-1 ACC) held in the number five spot of this week's USILA Division I Coaches Poll, picking up 487 points this week. Notre Dame moved back to the top spot with 595 points and 25 of the 30 first-place votes. Princeton had four of the remaining first-place selections while North Carolina had the final one. Princeton garnered 561 total points for second with UNC in third with 535 points. Richmond was fourth with 502 points.
In the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll, Syracuse picked up 365 points this week, just 11 points back from Richmond in fourth. Notre Dame was number one with 436 points and 18 top votes with Princeton in second with 411 points and the final four first-place votes. North Carolina was third with 391 points.
Thirteen of the 15 regular season opponents were mentioned in this week's Coaches Poll: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Maryland, No. 8 Georgetown, No. 10 Harvard, No. 11 Virginia, No. 12 Johns Hopkins, No. 16 Duke, No. 20 Penn, with Boston University, Denver, and Saint Joseph's all receiving votes.
Ten Syracuse opponents were mentioned by the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll this week: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Maryland, No. 8 Virginia, No. 9 Harvard, No. 10 Georgetown, No. 13 Johns Hopkins, No. 15 Duke, as Boston University received votes.
The Orange step out of ACC play this weekend, hosting Colgate on Saturday. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at the JMA Wireless Dome. Prior to the game, Syracuse will honor its senior class and their families.
