Men’s Lacrosse Jumps in Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a decisive win on the road over the weekend, Syracuse University men's lacrosse moved up in the polls this week as the Orange get ready for a westward trip.
Syracuse (5-2) knocked off Johns Hopkins, ranked 11th last week, with a 12-8 final at Homewood Field on Saturday, the fourth win over a top-20 team this season for the Orange.
The Orange jumped three spots to seventh in this week's USILA Division I Coaches Poll, picking up 414 points. Notre Dame remained at the top with 610 points and 24 first-place votes. Richmond was second again with 575 points and three top selections while Princeton was third with 564 points and another three top votes. Harvard landed in fourth with 519 points and one first-place nod while Duke was fifth with 487 points.
Syracuse moved up two spots in the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll this week, slotting in eighth with 295 points. Notre Dame was first again with 423 points and nine first-place votes. Richmond was second with 416 points and was the top choice seven times. Princeton was third with 403 points and five first-place votes with Harvard picking up the final top selection with 371 points, good enough for fourth place. North Carolina rounded out the top five with 356 points.
Thirteen opponents on this year's schedule were mentioned in the USILA Coaches Poll this week: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 3 Princeton, No. 4 Harvard, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 10 Maryland, No. 12 Denver, No. 14 Johns Hopkins, No. 15 Georgetown, No. 16 Penn, No. 18 Saint Joseph's, No. 20 Boston University as Virginia slipped into the receiving votes column.

The Orange remain in Colorado with a top-20 game on Monday, March 16 at No. 12/No. 13 Denver. Opening faceoff is set for 8 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Mountain.
