The Syracuse women's ice hockey team put 40 shots on goal Thursday evening at Tennity Ice Pavilion, but a third-period goal from Wren Abboud lifted Delaware to a 1-0 win.

Syracuse (6-3-0, 4-3-0 AHA) controlled the shot count in every period but couldn't get one past Delaware goaltender Charlotte Payne, who made 40 saves for the shutout. Ava Drabyk stopped 13 of the 14 shots she faced in net for the Orange.

Delaware (4-6-1, 2-3-0 AHA) got its lone goal from Abboud, her second of the season, with assists from Bailey Gray and Emma MacIntyre.

How it Happened

Syracuse dominated the opening 20 minutes, outshooting Delaware 12-3. The Blue Hens' lone power play, set up by a Syracuse penalty, never produced a shot on goal.
Syracuse earned its lone power play of the night in the second when Delaware was whistled for cross-checking. The Orange put pucks at the net but couldn't convert, and they led 14-3 in shots for the period.
Abboud broke the scoreless tie in the third period at even strength, assisted by Gray and MacIntyre.
Syracuse answered with seven more shots on Payne after the goal. The Orange pulled Drabyk for the extra attacker in the final minute, but all three shots in the closing seconds missed the net.
