After sweeping its AHA series at Robert Morris, Syracuse University women's ice hockey received votes in this week's USCHO Division I Women's Poll.
The Orange picked up six votes in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online poll, up from two in last weeks poll. Syracuse is one of three Atlantic Hockey America teams mentioned in the poll this week: No. 6 Penn State, with Mercyhurst receiving four votes.
Syracuse (6-2-0, 4-2-0 AHA) won both games in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. On Friday, Rylee McLeod's unassisted second period goal was the game-winner in a 2-1 victory. Stella Costabile also scored on the power play, and Ava Drabyk made 19 saves. On Saturday, the Orange scored four times in the second period on the way to a 6-2 win. Jordan Blouin scored twice, with additional goals from Nea Tervonen, Maryn Broderick, Rachel Walsh and McLeod. Ten Orange players recorded a point, and Drabyk made 18 saves.
The sweep followed a 5-4 overtime win over then No. 4 Penn State on Oct. 9 and a 4-0 loss to the Nittany Lions the next day. Earlier this season, the Orange split a road series at Mercyhurst, winning 3-1 and losing 5-2.
Syracuse returns to Tennity Ice Pavilion next week for another AHA series against Delaware. Game times are set for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 and 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
