After splitting its first home AHA series of the season, Syracuse University women's ice hockey received votes in this week's USCHO Division I Women's Poll.
The Orange picked up two votes in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online poll. Syracuse is one of three Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) teams mentioned in the poll this week: No. 5 Penn State, with Mercyhurst receiving nine votes.
Earlier this season, the Orange split the road series at Mercyhurst, which had received votes leading into that week. Syracuse won the first game in Erie, Pennsylvania 3-1 but fell 5-2 in the second game.
Syracuse (4-2-0, 2-2-0 AHA) knocked off fourth-ranked Penn State 5-4 in an overtime thriller on Friday. Eventual AHA Defenseman of the Week Jocelyn Fiala notched the game-winning goal in overtime. The Nittany Lions topped Syracuse the following afternoon at Tennity Ice Pavilion, however.
The Orange return to Western Pennsylvania this weekend for another AHA series, this time facing Robert Morris in Moon Township. Game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Both games at Clearview Arena will air on FloHockey.
