ORANGE UPDATE
'Cuse opens its season with both programs riding multi-year streaks of qualifying for the NCAA Championship. The Orange men boast the nation's fourth-longest active streak, with 16-straight appearances. The stretch includes winning at least one championship (ACC, Northeast Region or NCAA) and/or finishing in the top-10 of the NCAA Championships every year since 2009 (excluding the COVID season).
The SU women have made four-straight appearances in the NCAA Championship, tying for the longest streak in program history (2008-11).
SYRACUSE ENTRIES
The Syracuse women will race a large group on Saturday, with 16 runners entered into the field. They are: Lauren Augustyn, Maisie Burns, Sarah Cobb, Mackenzie Cook, Beatriz Fernandes, Grace Finnegan, Leah Futey, Jayden Harberts, Alycia Hart, Madeline Heintz, Luise Hilzbleck, Gretta Johnson, Sarah Lawson, Carmen Luisi, Ella Masem and Olivia Shattuck. If the Orange race the full entry list, it'll be the Orange debuts for Burns, Cook, Hart, Hitzbleck, Johnson, Luisi and Masem.
The men will run Connell Alford, Omar Alsaidi, Eamon Burke, Asher Danielson, Sam Ricchiuti, Ruben Rojas Betanzos, Louis Small and Drew Zundell. The race will be Small's 'Cuse debut. Additionally, two members of the men's squad - Charles Guerrera and Andrew Walton - will be running unattached on Saturday.
HARRY LANG HISTORY
The Harry Lang Invitational has been the staple for Syracuse to open the season at, having competed at this event for its season opener in 14 of the last-15 years (the 2020 COVID impacted season being the lone exception). The Orange men have won this event every year since 2016. The women have taken six of the last-eight victories in which Syracuse has competed.
RANKING THE ORANGE
Syracuse enters the season as one-of-six ACC squads to be ranked in both the men's and women's USTFCCCA Poll. The Syracuse men open the year ranked No. 12, while the women check in at No. 29.
Both programs have been ranked in 15-straight polls, a streak that dates back to the 2023 season. The Syracuse men have been ranked in every poll since week six of the 2021 campaign.
