Syracuse And Mercyhurst Plan First Meeting

Syracuse and Mercyhurst will meet for the first time in a regular-season basketball contest on Wednesday, December 17, at the JMA Wireless Dome.

The matchup will be the first regular-season basketball pairing between the two schools.

Syracuse
The Orange return their top two scorers, senior guard J.J. Starling (17.8 ppg.) and sophomore forward Donnie Freeman (13.4 ppg., 7.9 rpg.), from the 2024-25 squad that was 14-19. Third-year coach Adrian Autry has added six transfers and five freshmen to the Syracuse roster.

Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst was 15-16 overall and 9-7 in the Northeast Conference a season ago. It marked the first campaign in Division I for the Lakers. Gary Manchel enters his 23^rd year as head coach at Mercyhurst. He is the winningest coach in program history with a 388-235 mark. The Lakers' top returning performer is guard Bernie Blunt III, a graduate student who averaged 12.5 points per game a season ago.
