Track Wraps Up Day 3 at NCAA First Round

Day three of the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary concluded on Friday, with Julian Franjieh narrowly missing advancing to the semifinals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Franjieh became the third member of the Orange to suffer the fate of missing advancing by just one spot this week, taking 13th in steeplechase. He crossed the line in 8:45.45, which was fifth in his quarterfinal heat. Akron's Bismack Kipchirchir earned the final qualifying spot with a fourth-place finish in the same heat. Solomon Holden-Betts also saw his season conclude in the steeple, finishing in 9:06.93, which was 35th.
Emanuel Joseph finished 22nd in the 110-meter hurdles quarterfinals, finishing in 14.00 seconds.
Xayvion Perkins (51.27 seconds) placed 23rd overall in the 400-meter hurdles.
Iaunia Pointer will look to join Sam Lawler in punching a ticket to Eugene, Oregon on Saturday. Lawler already advanced to the NCAA final in the 10k. Pointer's chance will come in the NCAA Quarterfinal for the 200-meter dash, which is scheduled for 7:50 p.m.
