
12 Advance to NCAA East Prelims

Twelve Syracuse track athletes are headed to the NCAA East Preliminary round, after final qualifying selections were announced on Thursday.
The 10ks will be the deepest for the Orange, with six runners – three men, three women – entered in the event.
Emma Eastman (32:47.21), Rylie Lusk (33:13.56) and Savannah Roark (33:22.60) all rank in the top-20 of the women's field, while Sam Lawler (28:21.63), Assaf Harari (28:23.69) and Perry Mackinnon (28:43.13) are in the men's field. The 10ks are NCAA semifinals (men – May 28 at 9:10 p.m. | Women – May 29 at 9:10 p.m.), where the top-12 finishers will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Another event with multiple competitors will be the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, where both Julian Franjieh (8:43.47) and Solomon Holden-Betts (8:50.08) qualified. That race is a quarterfinal, with the top-12 finishers moving on to Eugene, Oregon, and will be at 5:40 p.m. on Friday, May 30.
Emanuel Joseph (13.74 seconds) qualified in the 110-meter hurdles, while Xayvion Perkins (50.91 seconds) is in the 400-meter hurdles. Their events will get started at 6 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., respectively, on Wednesday, May 28.
Iaunia Pointer (23.09 seconds) will compete in the 200-meter dash, which will be at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday. Heidi Demeo (4:18.43) will run in the 1,500-meters immediately after on Thursday.
