ALBANY, N.Y. – The Syracuse softball team (22-19, 3-15 ACC) will wrap up its nonconference slate with a doubleheader at UAlbany (19-18, 9-4 AE) on Wednesday, April 23. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., with game two to follow at approximately 4 p.m. Both contests will stream live on AE.TV.
Â
ORANGE UPDATE:Â
'Cuse enters the twin bill in Albany following 10 days without game action. The Orange were scheduled to play a doubleheader at Colgate on April 16, but the games were canceled due to weather. Syracuse then had its ACC bye weekend this past weekend.
Â
The last time the Orange took the field, they were swept by Virginia in conference play. Syracuse was no-hit in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, falling 5-0 and 10-0 (5 inn.) on April 12. In the series finale the next day, the Orange broke through offensively with RBIs from Angie Ramos and Madelyn Lopez, but ultimately dropped the contest, 10-2, in five innings.
Â
Syracuse heads to UAlbany at the tail end of its nine-game road swing, which began on April 4 at Georgia Tech. The Orange hold a 3-11 record in true road games this season, with victories coming at Duke (March 15), Le Moyne (March 26), and Georgia Tech (April 5).
Â
Through 41 games, Madelyn Lopez has paced the Orange offense, hitting .422 (49-for-116) with 24 runs, 23 RBIs, and two home runs—ranking first or second on the team in each category. Tessa Galipeau (.337) and Angie Ramos (.313) have also been key contributors, each batting above .300 this season. Ramos has been a consistent run producer, with her 19 RBIs trailing only Lopez for the team lead.
Â
Kelly Breen is the lone player to have appeared in all 41 games for Syracuse this season. The senior has been a mainstay in the Orange lineup throughout her four-year career and is putting together another strong campaign. She is currently hitting .276—on pace for the second-highest average of her career—while contributing 17 RBIs and 16 runs. A dependable leader in the infield, Breen has split time between third base and shortstop this season.
Â
In the circle, Julianna Verni and Madison Knight have shouldered most of Syracuse's pitching duties, combining for 197.2 of the team's 266 innings. The duo has totaled 158 strikeouts, with Knight's 90 ranking 10th in the ACC.
Â
SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
UAlbany enters Wednesday's doubleheader with a 19-18 record and a 9-4 mark in America East play. The Great Danes are coming off a three-game sweep of Maine, winning 7-2, 5-3, and 12-0. The games against Syracuse will be their last non-conference matchups of the season.
Â
Caitlyn Frederick (.358), Taylor Quinn (.339), and Ava Beal (.333) lead UAlbany at the plate. In the circle, Kate Powers has thrown a team-high 93.1 innings with a 2.18 ERA and 68 strikeouts. Hayley Wieczerzak leads the team in strikeouts with 83 in just 56.2 innings.
Â
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UALBANY:

Â
Wednesday's doubleheader will mark the first meeting between the two teams since April 12, 2023, when they split a twin bill in Albany.
Â
UP NEXT:
