Leegganers, van Kempen, Drabick Tabbed All-ACC
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On the eve of the 2025 ACC Field Hockey Tournament, three Syracuse University standouts earned postseason honors as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tuesday afternoon.
Midfielder Lieke Leeggangers and back Bo van Kempen were named First Team All-ACC while midfield/forward Aiden Drabick was named Second Team All ACC. Van Kempen picks up her second-straight First Team plaudits while Leeggangers and Drabick are honored for the first time.
Van Kempen has been nothing short of exceptional in her graduate season as Syracuse's center back. Van Kempen rewrote the program record books with a six-goal outburst in the season opener against Lock Haven, adding an assist for a 13-point day—both program records—with her six goals being the most by an ACC player since at least 2017. Through the first portion of the season, van Kempen led Syracuse with 37 points, 45 shots, and 33 shots on goal, while also recording four game-winning goals. After six games, she was tied for the national lead in total goals scored, goals per game at 2.33, and points per game at 5.00, with an elite 48.3% shot conversion rate. Through the regular season, van Kempen's 19 goals ranked fifth nationally while she led Syracuse in all major attacking and defensive statistics.
Leeggangers has provided steady contributions as a senior midfielder/forward for Syracuse in 2025. After scoring just one goal through the Orange's first 13 games, Leeggangers found her scoring touch with two goals in as many games. In Syracuse's home finale against No. 2 North Carolina, Leeggangers scored with an assist from Drabick to help give the Orange a 3-1 halftime lead. She added another goal in Syracuse's 3-1 victory at Boston College, receiving an assist from Aubrey Turner to double the Orange's advantage. Leeggangers' late-season production and veteran presence have been valuable for Syracuse's young roster.
Drabick has served primarily as a playmaker and facilitator in her redshirt senior season. While she entered a late October game against Boston College with only two assists on the season, Drabick's strong ball-handling skills and ability to weave through defenders provided crucial offensive momentum for the Orange. In Syracuse's 5-2 victory over Lafayette, Drabick dribbled through the defense to find Ally Snyder for a goal that gave the Orange their first lead of the game. Drabick recorded an assist on Leeggangers' goal against No. 2 North Carolina, helping Syracuse build a two-goal halftime advantage.
Sixth-seeded Syracuse wraps up the opening round of the 2025 ACC Field Hockey Tournament on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. rematch against third-seeded Wake Forest. All seven games of this year's Tournament will be played at the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium. Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush will have the call for ACC Network for each game.
