Book Two, Chapter One
- The 2025 Postseason begins Tuesday for the Orange as sixth-seeded Syracuse rematches with third-seeded No. 6 Wake Forest to round out the first day of ACC Tournament action.
- Syracuse looks to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Demon Deacons during the regular season at J.S. Coyne with a neutral site battle in central Kentucky.Â
- Despite last season's ACC Tournament hosted at Wake Forest, Syracuse meets the Demon Deacons in the league's bracket for the first time since 2016. The Orange are hunting their first win over Wake Forest in the ACC postseason.
- Coming off a 3-2 setback at Louisville on Saturday afternoon, the Orange look to bounce back with the 6 p.m. first push. Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush have the call for all seven games of the ACC Tournament on the ACC Network.
- Syracuse is 1-0 at neutral sites this season, topping #16 Rutgers 2-0 in the second week of the season in Columbus, Ohio at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
- Wake, which captured a share of the ACC Regular Season Championship with a resurgent 7-1 league record this season, fell 5-3 Friday against Virginia as the Demon Deacons, Cavaliers and North Carolina all went 7-1 in ACC play, all beating each other.Â
- At the time of writing, the Orange remain in the top 10 in the most recent NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, the eighth-straight week Syracuse has been inside the top 10, the most top-10 weeks since the 2016 season, when the team was ranked in the top 10 all 10 weeks.
With a Win Tuesday Syracuse Would...
- Win an ACC Tournament game for a second-straight season, the first time the Orange would win back-to-back ACC postseason games since 2021 and 2022.
- Bring the Orange to 2-2 at the ACC Tournament under head coach Lynn Farquhar.
- See the Orange beat the Demon Deacons in the ACC Tournament for the first time since joining the league in 2013.
- Avoid back-to-back losses again. Syracuse has dropped back-to-back games just once this season.
- Improve Syracuse to 2-0 in neutral site games.
- Collect a second top-10 RPI win this season
Â
Updating The NCAA CV
- Postseason play is here for the Orange!
- Syracuse secured the six seed entering this week's ACC Tournament with a 3-5 record in league play this fall.
- Looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament, with the Selection Show slated for 10 p.m. on Sunday, November 9 on NCAA.com, Syracuse is in fine shape for the big dance.
- The Orange sit 10th in the NCAA Rankings Percentage Index (RPI) with an RPI value of 0.60670, with Yale in ninth place at 0.61077.
- Syracuse's nonconference RPI is eighth, bolstered by a clean 8-0 record in non-league games.
- The Orange are 1-2 against teams currently in the top five of the RPI and 1-1 against RPI opponents 6-10.
- As a league the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has the best RPI in Division I as the teams are a combined 96-51 on the year. The ACC schedules tough, and is not afraid to take the show on the road, as the league is ranked first in Opponent Success, Opponent Strength of Schedule, Road RPI and currently second behind the Ivy League in Road Success.
- Additionally, the ACC had the best record against nonconference opponents during the 2025 regular season, combining to go 60-15 outside the league. The Ivy League was second at 54-15.
