Syracuse (5-8-4, 1-7-1) takes the pitch for the final time this season when it travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face #23 North Carolina (10-6-0, 4-4-0) on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1:00 p.m., at Dorrance Field. This will be the second consecutive match in which Syracuse has squared off with a ranked opponent.

The Syracuse-North Carolina Series
North Carolina has won each of the 10 matches in the all-time series with Syracuse, including four at home. The most recent meeting came on Sept. 22, 2024, where the Tar Heels defeated the Orange, 1-0.

Syracuse Status
The Orange enter the match following a hard fought, 2-0 defeat at #7 Duke on Thursday night.

Senior Shea Vanderbosch, who has started all 17 matches on the year, owns a goals against average of 1.33 and a save percentage of .800. Vanderbosch recorded 10 saves in the Duke match, the fourth time this season she has reached double-digit saves in a contest. She ranks first in the ACC in total saves (88) and saves per game (5.18).

Senior Mia Klammer has a squad-best seven goals and 16 points this season. Klammer has started all 17 matches on the year, registering a shot on goal in 12. She also became the first Syracuse player since 2014 to net seven goals in a campaign. Graduate student Ashley Rauch has four goals and leads the team with four assists.

Syracuse has leaned heavily on its youthful defense pairing of freshman Bree Bridges and sophomore Jasmine Nixon. Nixon (1,493) and Bridges (1,491) rank first and second in minutes played on the team. Nixon has completed the full 90 minutes in 14 matches, including nine consecutive, while Bridges has played the full 90 minutes 13 times.

North Carolina Status
The Tar Heels last competed on Thursday night, dropping a match on the road at Miami, 2-1.

2024 National Champion and NCAA College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player Olivia Thomas has a squad best 11 goals, six assists and 28 points. She leads the ACC in shots (74), and is tied for second in goals (11) and game-winning goals (4). 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy Winner Kate Faasse has eight goals and five assists, while Buffalo native Linda Ullmark has five goals and seven assists.

Junior goalkeeper Abby Gundry has started eight matches on the year and owns a goals against average of 1.10 and a save percentage of .696. She has recorded one individual shutout along with four combined.

Thursday night was a full slate of conference play, seeing multiple key results with conference tournament implications. #11 Florida State triumphed over #2 Virginia, 3-2, in a thrilling match. #1 Notre Dame rode an Izzy Engle hat-trick to a 5-0 victory over Virginia Tech, while Miami scored a ranked upset, defeating #23 North Carolina, 2-1.
