
Orange Close Out Regular Season with No. 14 Seminoles

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse wraps up the 2024 regular season against No. 14 Florida State May 3 and 4 at Skytop Stadium.

Due to impending weather in the Syracuse area, a doubleheader is being played on Friday, beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday's single game first pitch is slated for 1 p.m. All three games will air live on ACC Network Extra.

Following Saturday's contest, the senior class will be honored in a ceremony, which features six members of the program. The honorees include Rebecca Clyde, Jessie DiPasquale, Ryan Gallegos, Lindsey Hendrix, Angel Jasso and Olivia Pess.

Syracuse is 2-31 in the all-time series with Florida State. The Orange last played the Seminoles in the 2023 ACC Tournament after Syracuse defeated Virginia. Both of Syracuse's wins came during the 2005 campaign, a 2-1 victory on Feb. 19, before winning in the next meeting on March 19, 4-3, in eight innings.

ORANGE UPDATE:Â
- Syracuse shutout Cornell, 4-0, in its final non-conference game of the regular season Wednesday.
- Graduate student Jessie DiPasquale matched her season-high with eight strikeouts. The righty has fanned 16 batters in her last two appearances, allowing one run across the 14 frames.
- Sophomore Madison Knight hit her fifth home run in the last eight games and has at least one knock in eight of her last nine games as a hitter.
- With the win against the Big Red, Syracuse has reached 26 wins this season, tied for the most victories in a season under head coach Shannon Doepking (2022).
- Jasso recorded her 60th hit of the season on Wednesday, the first Syracuse player to reach the mark since 2017.
- Junior Taylor Posner has 40 RBI this season, the first player in program history to achieve the feat since Faith Cain (41) and current assistant coach Sydney O'Hara (42) in 2017.
- The Orange enter the final weekend of ACC play coming off a series with against No. 15 Virginia Tech, the program's first top-15 series win. Syracuse won the opening game, 2-1, and finale, 6-2.
- For her efforts in both victories, senior Lindsey Hendrix was tabbed the ACC Pitcher of the Week, becoming the fourth pitcher in program history to earn the honor. Hendrix allowed just three runs (one earned), on nine hits while fanning five Hokies. The southpaw logged a 0.50 ERA on the weekend and held Virginia Tech to a .176 batting average while earning her 10th and 11th wins of the season, a career high.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Florida State is 40-11 and sits atop the ACC with an 18-3 record in conference play.
- Freshman Jaysoni Beachum paces the offense with a .452 AVG, 15 home runs and 62 RBI. Beachum is a finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year. Nationally, Beachum ranks in the top-15 in nearly every statistical category.
- Ashtyn Danley leads the pitching staff with a 3.34 ERA across 109 innings in the circle. Danley and Makenna Reid have combined for a 27-4 record, tossing 196.1 frames.
