
Syracuse Closes Non-Conference Slate with Cornell

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse finishes its non-conference schedule with a doubleheader against Cornell May 1 at Skytop Stadium. First pitch is set for 3 p.m., with the game airing on ACC Network Extra.

Syracuse is 20-9 versus Cornell and have won 12 of the last 13 contests. In nine of the victories, the Orange have allowed one run or less. Last season, Syracuse swept the Big Red, 5-0 and 6-0, in Ithaca. In the second game of the doubleheader, Lindsey Hendrix tossed the program's 12th no-hitter. This marked the first time in program history the Orange had two different pitchers toss a no-no in the same season, joining Madison Knight's feat versus NC State earlier that season.

ORANGE UPDATE:Â
- Syracuse beat No. 15 Virginia Tech, 2-1, Friday and 6-2, Sunday, to earn its first series win against a top-15 opponent in program history.
- Senior Lindsey Hendrix tossed a complete game in both contests, holding the Hokies to just one earned run and a .176 batting average against. Hendrix notched wins 10 and 11 on the season, a career-high for the southpaw.
- The Orange drew seven walks in Sunday's victory, the most in an ACC contest since March 28, 2021 at Pitt.
- Sophomore Madison Knight launched two home runs in the series and has gone deep in four of the last seven contests. Over the span, Knight has driven in eight runs.
- Senior Angel Jasso has 59 hits this season, tied with Lisaira Daniels (2012) for the third-most by a senior in program history.
- Senior Olivia Pess recorded 13 putouts in left field in the series, including seven in Saturday's game; the most by a Syracuse outfielder this season.
- Junior Taylor Posner drove in her 40th run of the season on Sunday becoming the first Syracuse player to achieve the mark since Faith Cain (41) and current assistant coach Sydney O'Hara (42) in 2017.
- With a win against Cornell, Syracuse would earn its 26th victory of the season, tied for the most wins in a campaign under head coach Shannon Doepking (2022).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Cornell is 7-26 overall and 4-14 in the Ivy League. The Big Red have lost five of its last six games and hold a record of 1-13 in true road games this season.
- Ella Harrold leads the offense with a .333 AVG, 23 runs and seven stolen bases. Lauren Holt has collected a team-best nine home runs and 41 RBI across the 33 ballgames.
- Cornell holds a 6.60 ERA as a pitching staff and have fanned just 94 batters in 209 frames.
