THE GAME
- ACC play resumes for the Orange as third-ranked Syracuse heads for the midwest to take on top-ranked Notre Dame Saturday afternoon at Arlotta Stadium. The Orange carry with them a five-game winning streak, looking to close out an untouched month of March.
- The 21st meeting all-time between the Orange and the Fighting Irish is set for a 2 p.m. opening faceoff on ACC Network. Mike Corey and Quint Kessenich will have the call for ACC Network.
- Tim Leonard (play-by-play) and Kyle Fetterly (analyst) take to the airwaves on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and TuneIn App, as well as Syracuse University student-radio station WAER. Andrew Selover and Ian Nicholas have the call for WAER.
...BUT THE ROAD'S FINE TOO
- With a week to go in the month of March, Syracuse men's lacrosse has officially played a true road game, taking down Hobart 13-7 on March 23 in Geneva, New York.
- Syracuse was the last Division I men's lacrosse program to play a true road game this season. The Orange played twice away from Dome, taking down No. 4/2 Johns Hopkins (14-13) and No. 20/20 Delaware (14-6) in Charlotte, North Carolina and Chantilly, Virginia, respectively.
- Of the more than 70 NCAA Division I men's lacrosse programs, only six have an untarnished record away from their home venues, accounting for road and neutral-site games: Syracuse (1-0, 2-0), Penn State (3-0, 1-0), Boston University (2-0, 1-0), North Carolina (3-0, 2-0), Rutgers (2-0, 1-0), and Richmond (2-0, 1-0).
- Syracuse closes out the regular season with three of its final four games on the road, heading for South bend, the long trek to Ithaca on Tuesday, then to Chapel Hill before returning home for a special day on April 20 against Virginia.
THE NOTRE DAME SERIES
- As far as series histories for Syracuse men's lacrosse goes, the Notre Dame one isn't the longest - the teams have only met in this century.
- Since the first clash back in the NCAA Semifinals on May 26, 2001, Syracuse and Notre Dame have dueled 20 times, splitting those meetings evenly for a 10-10 series record.
- The Orange won eight of the first nine meetings, but the Fighting Irish have won each of the last six meetings, including a deceiving 20-12 win at the JMA Wireless Dome last season.
- While the Fighting Irish won 20-12 last season in Syracuse, the Orange led 12-11 early in the first quarter before running out of steam. Notre Dame scoring the final nine goals of the game to surge past, taking nine of the 11 fourth-quarter faceoffs.
- Syracuse is looking for its first win over Notre Dame since a 10-6 victory on March 31, 2018 at home, while seeking its first win in South Bend since an 11-10 decision back on April 1, 2017.
- The Orange are 2-5 in South Bend against the Fighting Irish, with wins coming in the aforementioned 2017 season and the first on May 1, 2010 with a 12-6 final score.
Weekly Honors
- Lather, rinse, repeat with Syracuse and weekly honors.
- On Tuesday, close defenseman Billy Dwan was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the second-straight week with a 'Cuse player earning the honor.
- Dwan had a lock-down week, helping limit Duke's top-ranked scoring offense to just four goals on Wednesday, followed by just another seven on Saturday at Hobart.
- The Lutherville, Marylander was tasked with marking 2023 Tewaaraton Trophy winner Brennan O'Neill, holding the Blue Devil to just one goal on 11 shots.
- Will Mark was again recognized on Tuesday, earning USILA Team of the Week distinction.
- Mark allowed just 11 goals last week, including four against Duke with a save percentage well 70 over percent. The active career saves leader made 24 saves last week.
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...
- Break a deadlock with Notre Dame in the all-time series, which currently stands at 10-10.
- Snap a six-game slide for the Orange against the Fighting Irish  and be the first 'Cuse win in South Bend since 2017.
- Be the 10th win of the season for Syracuse, the first year with at least 10 wins since going 13-3 in 2017.
-Extend Syracuse's winning streak to six straight, the longest such streak since winning nine straight in 2017.
- Be the 946th win all-time in program history, second-most among Division I programs.
