THE GAME
- It's the first road trip of the 2023 season for the No. 16 Syracuse squad as the Orange head for College Park, Maryland to clash with the reigning champion, Maryland.
- These two teams meet for a second-straight season, but the Orange return to SECU Stadium to face Maryland for the first time since 1997.
- The game will be carried on BTN+ with Tyler Lochte (PxP) and Ben Strober (analyst) on the call.
- Tim Leonard (PxP) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE MARYLAND SERIES
- Syracuse and Maryland, two of the winningest Division I programs ever, meet for the 19th time since 1927.
- The Orange and Maryland meet for a second-straight season after the Terps made the trek to the JMA Wireless Dome last season.
- Syracuse and Maryland will play in consecutive seasons for the first time in series history. The pair clashed twice during the 1983 campaign.Â
- The Orange as 6-12 all-time against the Terrapins and will look to snap a four-game slide against Maryland dating back to the 2011 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
- Nine current members of the Syracuse Orange have squared off against Maryland: Brandon Aviles, Jackson Birtwistle, Griffin Cook, Tyler Cordes, Pete Fiorini, Nick Fraterrigo, Saam Olexo, Carter Rice, and Max Rosa.
- College Park, Maryland is the site of four NCAA National Championships for the 'Cuse: 1989, 1993, 1995, 2000.
VERSUS THE BIG TEN
- The Big Ten has sponsored men's lacrosse since the 2015 season, but the Orange have a deep history against the league's current alignment.
- Syracuse holds a 123-63-2 all-time record against the six teams currently aligned with the Big Ten. Penn State is the most frequently seen Big Ten opponent as the Orange are 46-11 all-time against the Nittany Lions, while facing Johns Hopkins 50 times with a 51st clash on the slate for March 11. Syracuse is 41-9 all-time against Rutgers as well.
- Michigan is the only Big Ten team Syracuse has not seen during the regular or postseason, but the Orange have scrimmaged the Wolverines in each of the last two seasons.
- Maryland on Saturday and Johns Hopkins in March are the only two Big Ten opponents on the 2023 docket.
TEN BELOW
- Syracuse has won 70-straight games when holding opponents to under 10 goals in a game.
- 50 of those 70 games have come since the start of the 2015 season, including a high of 11 in 2016.Â
- The last time Syracuse failed to win when keeping its foe to single digits was on April 28, 2012, when the Orange fell at Notre Dame, 8-6.
