
Finley, Kiesel Named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Brennan Finley (men's rowing) and Josie Kiesel (women's rowing) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 20.

Kiesel is a sport management major and psychology minor in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. She earned a spot on the 2019 ACC All-Academic Team, has been on the Falk College's Dean's List since 2017, and has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester since 2018. Kiesel is a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club of Central New York, a mentee in the 'CUSEW Mentoring Program, and has held internships with the Syracuse University Athletic Communications Department and Athlete Network.

Last spring, the Wurzburg, Germany native featured in the bow seat of the varsity eight that placed second at the ACC/Big Ten Duel. Kiesel and the rest of the women's rowing team weren't able to compete during the 2020 spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic canceling the season.

Finley is a health and exercise science major in the School of Education. He was on the School of Education's Dean's List for the past two semesters, and has four times been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

The Ocean City, N.J. native competed in the 4V during the 2018-19 regular season, where he helped the Orange to a top-10 finish at Eastern Sprints. Finley was also an alternate for Syracuse for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Regatta. He and his men's rowing teammates didn't compete in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic canceling the season.
