THE GAME
- #5 Syracuse faces #7 Army West Point in SU's first battle with a ranked opponent of the season.
- The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra with Jonathon Hoppe and Ryan Powell on the call. Jack McMullen and Kyle Fetterly will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
PROMOTIONS CENTRAL
- Sunday's game will be Military Appreciation Day in the Dome. $5 tickets will be available at all gates to active duty and military veterans with military ID (limit four tickets per ID)
- It'll also be season ticket holder appreciation. In addition to the previously announced pregame event for season ticket holders, there will be a number of in-game celebrations to honor our most loyal fans.
- Next week's game against Hobart will be a battle for the Kraus-Simmons Trophy and final Dome game this season. Get tickets for that game here: Hobart Tickets
- Orange fans in the greater New York City area are invited to the Orange's Tri-State Weekend Kickoff Event on March 13 before Syracuse faces Rutgers. Details for that event can be found here: Tri-State Weekend Kickoff
THE ARMY SERIES
- Army holds a 40-26 advantage in the all time series between the two programs, but the Orange have emerged victorious in eight of the past 10 matchups.Â
- In last season's meeting between the two teams, the Orange edged the Black Knights, 10-8, behind multi-goal performances from David Lipka and Jacob Buttermore.
- In their 67th meeting, Army is 'Cuse's third-most common opponent behind just Cornell (105) and Hobart (105).Â
AGAINST THE PATRIOT LEAGUE
- Syracuse is 114-79-2 all-time against the nine current members of the Patriot League.
- The Orange's only other scheduled matchup against a Patriot League member this season came on February 7, when they bested Colgate, 21-14.
- 'Cuse boasts a 49-12-1 mark against Colgate, 26-40 record against Army, 9-19-1 record vs. Navy, 8-0 record vs. Bucknell, 3-2 record against Lehigh and a 19-6 record against Loyola.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
- Two games into the season and the Orange have already netted 38 goals, a two-game total that is the highest since 2000.
- The last time the Orange tallied 38-of-more combined goals in two games was on May 6 in the regular season finale vs. Georgetown (24) and May 20, 2000 in the NCAA Quarterfinals (17) also against Georgetown. Â
- Currently, Syracuse ranks fourth nationally in scoring offense at 19.00 goals per game.
TOUGH ON THE RIDE
- Through two games (and his first two starts on attack), Griffin Cook has four caused turnovers. Since caused turnovers officially became an NCAA statistic in 2010, just three attackmen in program history have had more than six caused turnovers in an entire season.
- In fact, in the 10 seasons since CTs became an official stat, Cook's total would already tie or beat the SU lead among attackmen in four of those 10 years.Â
- The highest single-season caused turnover totals among SU attackmen are Cody Jamieson, 9 (2010), Chris Daniello, 8 (2010), Dylan Donahue, 7 (2015). Nate Solomon, Jordan Evans 2x and JoJo Marasco each had six in a season. That list is the entirety of attackmen who finished a single season ahead of Cook.
- Stephen Rehfuss enters Sunday's game just one caused turnover behind Cook for the overall team lead.
STATE CHAMPS
- This is the third of six games vs. in-state competition this year, including a four-straight to kick off 2020.
- Historically, Syracuse has dominated New York. Owning a combined 413-160-10 record against teams from New York.
TEN BELOW
- Syracuse has won 60-straight games when holding opponents to under 10 goals in a game after holding Binghamton to four goals last time out.
- 40 of those 60 games have come since the start of the 2015 season, including a high of 11 in 2016. Syracuse did so six times in 2019.
- The last time Syracuse failed to win when keeping its foe to single digits was on April 28, 2012, when the Orange fell at Notre Dame, 8-6.
A WIN AGAINST ARMY WOULD...
- Be the program's 915th victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve SU's record to 69-28 since the start of the 2014 season.
- Move Syracuse to 27-40 all-time vs. Army
- Improve Syracuse's record to 414-160-10 against teams from the state of New York.
- Make the Orange 26-6 all-time vs. teams from the America East.
- Give Syracuse its 15th 2-0 start under Head Coach John Desko and 54th all-time in program history.
