THE BINGHAMTON SERIES
- Syracuse and Binghamton have squared off just five times in a series dating back to 2007, with Syracuse winning all five of the matchups.
- In last year's game, a 13-5 victory for the Orange, Syracuse jumped out to a 9-0 halftime lead, holding Binghamton scoreless for the first 36:35 of the game. Nick Mariano led the way with five points on four goals and an assist, while Sergio Salcido added two goals and Jordan Evans contributed a goal and an assist. Ben Williams won 12-of-15 faceoffs while Evan Molloy allowed just one goal in 38:04 for the win.
WILLIAMS GOES FOR RECORD
- With 618 career victories at the Faceoff X during his three seasons at Syracuse, senior Ben Williams ranks second all time in program history, just four shy of the record.
- Only Chris Cercy (622) has won more faceoffs in Syracuse history than Williams.
- Williams is 120-of-230 (.522) on the season, including 51-of-78 (.654) over his last three games.
ACC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS
- After knocking off North Carolina in overtime last weekend, the Orange completed its regular season conference play with a perfect 4-0 record, clinching the regular season conference title.
- Since joining the ACC for the 2014 season, the Orange are 10-7 overall against conference foes in regular season matchups and 15-8 overall, including ACC Tournament play.
- In each of the last two seasons, the Orange has finished 2-2 in regular season conference play before going on to win the ACC Tournament title.
- The Orange has won eight conference titles in the eight seasons, including four regular season titles (2010, 2011, 2013, 2017) and four conference tournament titles (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016). Syracuse was in the BIG EAST from 2010-2013, joining the ACC for the 2014 season.
ORANGE LEAD THE NATION IN ONE-GOAL GAMES
- Syracuse leads the country with eight one-goal games and sports a 7-1 record in such contests.
- As of April 16, 95 Division I games have been decided by one goal. Syracuse (8-1) and Vermont (4-1) are the only teams with only one loss that have played at least five such contests.
CARDIAC 'CUSE
- Prior to the six-goal victory against Hobart, Syracuse played in seven-straight one goal games, the longest streak in the 101-year history of the program.
- After defeating Hobart and Cornell each by multiple goals, Cardiac 'Cuse played in its eighth one-goal game of the season, a 12-11 overtime victory over North Carolina.
- 'Cuse has recorded four-or-more straight one-goal games in 2017, 2013, 2008, 2002 and 1919. Prior to this season, the last-three times Syracuse has recorded four-or-more one goal games, they played for a National Championship in that season. In total, the program record for one goal games happened in 2013, when the team tallied 10. The eight one-goal decisions this season sit alone for the second most all-time at SU.
A WIN AGAINST BINGHAMTON WOULD …
… Be the program's 893rd victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
… Improve SU's record to 47-14 since the start of the 2014 season.
… Give John Desko his 234th career coaching win, sixth among active Division I coaches.
… Extend Syracuse's current winning streak to nine straight.
