SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 20th-ranked Syracuse men's soccer team (1-0-0) seeks to continue its winning ways when it entertains Hartwick (0-0-1) in its home opener at the SU Soccer Stadium on Monday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.

ORANGE IN HOME OPENERS
Since 1975, Syracuse is 31-7-0 in home openers, including two consecutive wins from 2011-12. The Orange is 13-3-0 in home openers at the SU Soccer Stadium dating back to Aug. 30, 1997 when SU defeated No. 25, Connecticut, 2-0.

Last season, Syracuse defeated Albany 2-0 to kick off its home schedule.

PAST MEETS PRESENT
SU head coach Ian McIntyre previously spent 11 seasons with the Hartwick program, four as a player and seven as head coach.

From 1992-95, McIntyre led the Hawks to two NCAA Tournament berths and a 52-20-7 record during his four seasons in uniform. He also earned NSCAA First Team All-America honors during his senior year.

Prior to taking the Orange reins, McIntyre spent seven seasons (2003-09) as the head coach at Hartwick. He guided the Hawks to four 10-win seasons during his tenure and an appearance in the 2005 NCAA Championship.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
In its first match of the season, Hartwick earned a 1-1 draw versus Fordham. The Hawks recovered from a first-half deficit as Will Broomfield tallied the equalizer in the 79th minute.

Hartwick goalie Mateo Munarriz played all 110 minutes between the posts, recording five saves and allowing one goal.

John Scott is in his fourth season as the head coach at Hartwick. He has a 12-30-9 overall record and has mentored six players who have earned Mid-American All-Conference honors.

SERIES HISTORY
Hartwick owns a 17-11-5 series record against the Orange. The Hawks have recorded victories twice out of the last five meetings, with SU winning once in that span.

The Orange holds a 4-3 record in the seven meetings that have occurred at the SU Soccer Stadium.

UP NEXT…
Syracuse hits the road for its inaugural ACC match at Virginia Tech on Friday, Sept. 6. The Orange and Hokies will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Va. The game represents Syracuse's first ACC contest in any sport.
