
Orange Ranks 15th in NACDA Final Fall Directors' Cup Standings

Syracuse University athletics program is ranked 15th in the 2012-13 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Final Fall standings. The Orange football, field hockey, men's cross country and men's soccer teams all scored points.
The Orange has earned 252.00 points in the NACDA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, its highest point total during the fall since the inception of the award. The 2012 Orange field hockey squad scored 83 points for its third-place finish at the NCAA Championship, while men's soccer earned 64 points for its NCAA Sweet 16 entry. Football recorded 45 points after its victory in the Pinstripe Bowl, and the men's cross country team posted 60 points for its 15th-place finish at the NCAA Championship.
The football Orange defeated West Virginia, 38-14, in the Pinstripe Bowl on December 29 in Yankee Stadium. Syracuse won six of its last seven games and posted an 8-5 overall record. The Orange won a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title, posting a 5-2 mark in league play. The Orange set or tied nine single-season school records this season.
Field hockey head coach Ange Bradley directed her team to its second Final Four appearance after winning the BIG EAST Conference Championship. The 19-3 season included three weeks as the top-ranked team in the country. Junior Laura Hahnefeldt and seniors Kelsey Millman and Iona Holloway earned All-America honors.
The Orange men's soccer team experienced the best season in school history, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in the program's existence. Syracuse was the most improved team in the nation, posting a 16-4-1 record in 2012 after going 3-12-1 in 2011, for a win-loss improvement of +8.5. The Orange was ranked 17th in the final NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25 poll.
Men's cross country head coach Chris Fox led the Orange to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Championship after the team won its third BIG EAST Championship in four years. Fox and his coaching staff earned the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
