SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Following its first win in a BIG EAST opener for the first time since 2008, the SU men's soccer team (7-2-0) wraps up its 2012 non-conference schedule with a 3:30 p.m. match at Massachusetts (3-3-2) on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Rudd Field.
Syracuse has won five of its last six overall and owns a 6-2-0 mark in non-league action this fall.
ORANGE RECEIVING VOTES IN COLLEGE SOCCER NEWS NATIONAL POLL
Following its win over Seton Hall Saturday, Syracuse was one of 10 teams in the receiving votes category of this week's College Soccer News Top 30, released today. In addition, TopDrawersoccer.com has the Orange listed at No. 37 in its weekly Tournament 48, which is a projection of the 48-team NCAA Tournament field.
JORDAN VALE NAMED TO BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
Freshman Jordan Vale was picked to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday, Sept. 24. Vale scored the only goal in the Orange's 1-0 shutout of Seton Hall on Sept. 22.
Vale is third on the team in scoring this season with nine points (four goals, one assist). He's started all nine matches in 2012 as a member of the midfield.
DEFENSE DOMINATING
Syracuse leads the BIG EAST with seven shutouts this season, and the Orange has surrendered just five goals in nine outings. Rookie goalie Alex Bono is tied for the conference lead with five solo shutouts. Bono's playing behind a back four of Jordan Murrell, Skylar Thomas, Nick Bibbs and Chris Makowski. The quartet has started every game so far.

SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS
The Minutemen have a 3-3-2 record this season. UMass is coming off of a 2-0 victory versus Dartmouth on Sept. 22, which improved the team's home record to 3-0-1.

Josh Schwartz leads the offense with six points on a team-high three goals. Eight Minutemen are tied for the squad lead with one assist apiece.
Brian Frame has started every game in goal for UMass. Frame has three shutouts and 27 saves in eight outings.

Sam Koch is in his 22nd season as the head coach at UMass. He's guided the Minutemen to 11 Atlantic 10 Tournament berths, including the conference championship and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2001.

Tuesday's match marks the first meeting between Syracuse and Massachusetts.

Syracuse is 25-5-1 all-time against the 16 members of the Atlantic 10. The Orange is 0-1-0 versus George Washington; 0-1-0 versus VCU; 5-1-0 versus Fordham; 0-1-0 versus Richmond; and 20-1-1 versus St. Bonaventure
