The Syracuse football team travels to South Florida on Saturday, Oct. 27th, to take on the Bulls at 7 p.m. (TWCS/ESPN3). Syracuse (3-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) will play four of its final five games on the road, beginning that stretch at USF (2-5, 0-3 BIG EAST) this weekend.
Syracuse vs. South Florida
The Orange has won two out of its last three games, including a dominating 40-10 win against Connecticut. South Florida opened the season with two consecutive victories, before losing five in a row and going 0-3 in conference play.
USF leads the series against Syracuse, 6-1. The Orange notched its win against the Bulls in 2010, defeating USF, 13-9, on the road. Most recently, USF defeated Syracuse, 37-17, at the Carrier Dome on Nov. 11, 2011.

Elite Academics: Nassib Named 2012 NFF Scholar-Athlete
Senior quarterback Ryan Nassib has been named a 2012 NFF Scholar-Athlete. The honor, presented by Fidelity Investments, recognizes his efforts in excelling in the classroom, leading the football team and staying involved in community service. Orange in Top 35 on Both Sides
Syracuse is ranked in the top 35 nationally on offense and defense. The offense ranks 33rd among FBS teams, including the 15th-best passing attack, while the defense ranks 26th in the nation, including 24th against the run. SU is also eighth in the NCAA in tackles for loss with 7.86 per game, 22nd in first down defense and fourth in fourth down conversion defense.
Conference Honors for the Orange
Both Ross Krautman and Shamarko Thomas garnered conference accolades for their performances in SU's 40-10 win against Connecticut. Krautman was named the BIG EAST Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his 16-point effort. His scoring output against the Huskies is the most by a BIG EAST kicker in a game this season. Krautman his field goals of 22, 33, 42, and 47 and was 4-for-4 on PATs.
Thomas was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after he recorded four solo tackles, forced a fumble and intercepted a pass that he returned for 27 yards.
Breaking Down the Numbers : Offense Analysis
• 537: The number of plays the SU offense has run so far this season

Dynamic Duo
Senior receivers Alec Lemon and Marcus Sales have combined for 266 career receptions. Lemon is the program's all-time leader with 161 catches, while Sales is tied for seventh (105), They are the first pair of SU teammates to each have 100 receptions. Lemon and Sales are tied for second in the BIG EAST in receptions per game (5.3). Sales is third in the league in yards (77.9) and Lemon is fourth (71.3).
Backfield Trio Produces
Running backs Jerome Smith, Prince-Tyson Gulley and Ashton Broyld have combined to average 128.1 yards per game rushing this season. Smith has 488 yards on 97 carries (5.1 yards per rush). He recorded the first 100-yard rushing game by an SU back in 2012 with a personal-best 133 yards versus Connecticut on Oct. 19. Gulley has 255 yards and three TDs on 62 carries (4.1 yards per rush). Broyld's numbers are 31 attempts, 154 yards and one touchdown. He also set a personal-best rushing for 58 yards against Connecticut.
Defense Steps Up in Conference
Against BIG EAST opponents, the Orange leads the league in total defense (291 ypg), rushing defense (35.2 ypg) and third-down conversion defense (35.6 pct. 16-45). Syracuse is third in scoring defense during BIG EAST play at 15.3 points per game (46 points in three games). No BIG EAST team has rushed for 100 yards against the Orange.
