SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Following its first conference road win since 2009, the SU men's soccer team (10-4-0, 3-2-0 BIG EAST) concludes a two-game road swing at Villanova (10-2-2, 2-0-2 BIG EAST) on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Match time is set for 3 p.m. at the Villanova Soccer Complex.

A victory against the Wildcats would give the Orange its most conference wins in a season since 2008, when SU recorded four BIG EAST victories.

BONO HONORED BY BIG EAST AGAIN
Rookie goalkeeper Alex Bono was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time on Oct. 15. Bono made four saves in a 1-0 shutout at USF.

Bono and Kevin Bacher are the only SU keepers to earn conference goalie of the week honors twice in the same season. Bacher achieved the feat in 1999.

DEFENSE DOING THE JOB
The Orange recorded its ninth shutout of the season on Saturday when it defeated USF, 1-0. It is the most shutouts recorded by an SU side since 1980, when Syracuse also registered nine clean sheets.

SU leads the BIG EAST in shutouts and ranks fourth nationally in shutout percentage (.640).

SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats are riding a seven-game unbeaten streak (5-0-2), including a 1-0 victory against Cincinnati in its most recent outing. Villanova received 22 votes in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire Poll, released on Oct. 16.

Kyle Soroka leads the way offensively with 14 points this season (six goals, two assists). Sean Sheridan owns the team lead with five assists. John Fogarty has started all 14 games in goal for the Wildcats, and has posted five shutouts and holds a goals-against average of 0.70.

Tom Carlin is in his fifth season at the helm of the Wildcats. He is 42-37-13 as the head coach at Villanova. Last year, he led the Wildcats to the BIG EAST semifinals for the first time since 1993.

THE VILLANOVA SERIES
Wednesday's match marks the 22nd meeting between Syracuse and Villanova. The overall series is tied, 10-10-1. The Orange is seeking its first win in the series since a 1-0 decision in 2006.

RECAPPING THE USF GAME
Louis Clark scored his first goal of the season, lifting the Orange to a 1-0 victory at USF on Saturday, Oct. 13. Bono recorded his seventh shutout of the 2012 campaign in the win.
